Trick or Treat

Halloween We are celebrating Halloween in North American style this year. Nancy has a ton of candy ready for the kids Trick or Treating. We haven't decorated our house like some of the neighbours have though, just the pumpkins by the front door.

We spend the morning at the Ironwood Plaza Shopping Mall getting groceries needed for tonight's meal. We've decided to have the ham Dave won at the British Legion Club a few weeks ago. It between 8 and 9 pounds of it need a fairly long time cooking. We never had a Thanksgiving dinner so decide this will be a substitute for that. Nancylee is cooking and Nancy and I help when we can. We boil the ham first then roast it. She makes roast vegetables and Pommes De Dauphine or Scallpoed potatoes as the dish is called here!

The doorbell keeps ringing as kids in costume arrive Trick or Treating. We take it in turns answering the door and dishing out the candy. All the kids are accompanied by adults and some of them are in costume as well. The rush of kids peters out as we are ready to sit down to eat thankfully.

The baked ham with pineapple was cooked just right and was very tasty. Perfect with the roasted vegetables and the potatoes. So good we all have seconds and have great difficulty managing the excellent pumpkin tarts and cream
