The weather is slowly getting colder but the sun is still shining. There's wet weather on way though coming down from the North West. The Autumn colours on the trees glow in the sunlight. After a Sunday lunch of roast chicken, stuffing, roast potatoes and yams and vegetables, we decide to take advantage of the afternoon sunshine and go for walk to the 'dyke' . A wide strip of reeded marsh land between the river and the higher land. Theere's allot of people our walking and cycling.
On the way we pass the High School field. This has been transformed since we were here last, from an empty sports field to floodlit, astro turfed soccer pitches. These are used every weekend and during evenings.
Soccer is now a popular sport here. It's much cheaper for parents to kit their children out with soccer strips than American football kits. Also, there seemed to be a large number of girls teams. The Soccer match in this coming November when David Beckham and the LA Galaxy team play against the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place Sports Stadium was sold out as soon as it was announced.
