We decide on the White Spot restaurant in Richmond Center for lunch today. We had an amble around the Mall before lunch while Daisy went to the library. After lunch it seemed such a waste to stay in the Mall when the sun was shining so we took off to Steveston instead. Daisy really likes it there as well, in fact she took us there first in 1980 when she had a boyfriend who actually use to live near us in Peterborough.
Steveston was a Salmon canning town at the mouth of the Fraser River. In the last few years it become a pretty tourist village. It's grown even bigger in the last two years. So many new condo's. They've also knocked down some of the old canning sheds and created a new wooden Broad Walk along the waters edge.
The bald Eagles nest is still there in the dead tree across the river in the nature reserve. I wonder how many chicks they've raised this year. Dave saw a Bald Eagle fly past the window of the UBC Boathouse duuring John and Nancy's wedding cermony
Sitting on the wooden benches along the boardwalk in the warm late afternoon sun we watch skein after skein of Snow Geese fly over head in their spectacular formations, migrating south from the Artic Tundra.
Halloween pumpkins and pots of colourful 'Mums' decorate the Prickly Pear Garden Centre. I bought quite a few plants from her two years ago when I replanted some of Nancy's garden.
