Anyone out there want to buy an award winning Winery? It's for sale.
Nancylee's arranged for us to go to Steve and Lara's Winery in Langley to help pick the grape harvest. The Winery is called Glenugie after Lara's mother. She was from Aberdeen in the north of Scotland. Steve and Lara have run it for about seven years but Steve's a writer and published author and the demands of the vines are too great.
There's been a heavy frost overnight so we dress warmly. Langley's a pretty part of BC. Mostly farms and there's quite a few wineries in the area. The drive out takes about half an hour.
Nancylee announces to Steve that she's brought some 'cheap foreign labour' with her! Soon we're absorbed in snipping bunches of black juicy grapes off the vines and chucking them into the pails beside us. The sun's found it's way through the clouds and and it's actually quite a pleasant experience sitting there on upturned buckets amid the rows of vines. Most of the vine leaves have fallen and are a wonderful russet colour. The I wonder what the finished wine will be like. I believe these grapes are going to make a sparkling champagne like wine.

Lara and her sister has provided the pickers with flasks of tea, coffee or juices and a selection of homemade muffins. Lunch is a choice of two hearty soups,homemade sandwiches and a selection of biscuit snacks

Lara and Steve's baby daughter is so cute She sleeps in a carrying frame on Lara's back while she picks.
Greek Dinner at Steveston
Later that evening we go to Steveston to a popular Greek restaurant called Kismos Luckily we had a reservation as it was so busy. The food was really good and loads of it. Dave said his steak was the best he'd had.
