Day 3 Continued. The Sun Show’s it’s Face on Granville Island

After a leisurely start to the day we pile in Nancylee’s car to head off to our most favourite and most visited place in Vancouver, Granville Island. Yesterday’s rain has passed over and the clouds break for the sun to warm the day up. Granville Island Is so busy this morning. Cars queue for parking spaces. There’s the 34^th Vancouver Children’s Festival happening here. We forgot! Despite this we strike lucky with a parking space and a free one to boot. As long as we're back in 3 hours anyway.

Granville Island , not really an island but a peninsular of land jutting out into an area of water called False creek. It was all a heavy Industrial area once but over the last 30 years has become an area for artists and craft workers. Strangely there's still a large concrete plant on the site and the massive lorries come and go. The old vacated warehoused are now renovated into units for artists studios, and other areas for selling many different, mostly hand made or designer goods.

There's also a prestigious, well endowed Art School on the site as well as a well stocked extremely large Art shop.

There's good places to buy food, all the food you could ever imagine and some you just couldn't! There's good places to eat and good places to sit and be entertained by the many buskers. It just rocks! I forgot there's even a Brewery in one of the bars.

We wander through the converted warehouse called the Net Loft. It's an area full of crafts of all sorts. We wander through, looking at the beautiful craft items for sale. There seems to be much that is new to be examined. This area definitely needs a more in depth exploration on a later visit. I've spotted some silver necklaces and earring that are very much my style.

Cutting across to the Public Market another large converted warehouse space we continue to wander. So much to see, so much beautiful fresh produce and cooked food. The smell of food make us hungry.

The Magnicent Seven.

The Sand Bar, a massive cavenous converted warehouse is a warm light inviting space for lunch. Their speciality is of course fish of all sorts as long as it's fresh. It's certainly good.
