At Steveston once more

Thursday June 9th.

We gone to have a wander around Steveston this morning. The Village is far quieter today now the Tall Ships have gone. Steveston is slowly changing into a Tourist attraction. Even more new houses and apartments have been built in the last two years and it's now a very expensive place to live.

Pa Jo's a floating pontoon in the harbour that Pa Jo's is built on hasn't changed. The fish and chips are just as popular and just as good.

Dave and I decide to have halibut and chips instead of cod. John and Nancy go to order and come back with the special trays that the cones of food fit so the tray can be carried easliy. As well they bring tartar sauce, tomato sauce, coleslaw, mushy peas and gravy. Quite a feast.

All the fishing fleet seems to be dockedin the harbour this morning and the boat selling fresh seafood is sold out and deserted

The Gulf of Georgia Salmon Cannery is the only cannery left now and its a Heritage Museum. I believe it has some new exhibits so another visit may be scheduled.

There are new smart restaurants tucked in quite places along the wide streets and some new shops, mainly tourist orientated, have started up. It's a smarter place now. The one good thing is as it's quite a way from Downtown Vancouver the tourists only come in the day time so the excellent restaurants are the preserve of the locals at night.

Dave's Fish and Chips are still on Moncton Street. Some things don't change.

This is the obligatory Starbucks on a street corner of course with Apartments above. Not a Coffee outlet frequented by John and Nancy. Their favourite coffee place is a across the road and a little further down called Beans and Beyond.

The well appointed public park and a little further along is the well used busy Community Center.
