Wednesday November14th
Betty collected us this afternoon. She was in her sons car today . It's an ex RCMP car with logos painted out of course. Shame. Those police certainly like large comfy cars though. We drove off to South Vancouver to the 100th Legion Hall. Red, Betty's boyfrien, meets us there. Nancy always buys her and Red a jug of beer. Betty and I stick to soft drinks.
It's a meat draw afternoon again. There's 5 draws each half an hour apart and each had four large packs of meat. We take it in turns to buy the tickets 2 for each of us at at $1 each. It's not long before Betty's legendary luck kicks in and she wins and picks a large baron of beef. Red moans that the freezers already full! The rest of the afternoon passes by until the last but one draw when Betty wins again. This time she picks the stewing beef pack. It'd four packs with a kilo in each pack. The last draw comes around and Nancy is bemoaning that we haven't won any thing this time. The third lot of numbers are called and she jumps up. A large pack of chicken quarters comes to the table. The last set of numbers are called for the last pack of meat of the draw and it's Reds turn to win. Not a bad afternoons work four packs of meat between us! Must be worth much more than $100. Reds not sure how he's going to get it in the feezer.
