Betty came over to Richmond from Vancouver to collect us early Friday evening. With the bad weather in Vancouver over Christmas and the New year we hadn't managed to meet up with Betty and Red before tonight. Red had decided this was a girls night out so we didn't see him. We were also meeting up with Cathy at the River Rock Casino in Richmond.
The River Rock restaurant was serving its buffet meal tonight. Pay a set price and eat all you want! The food is good as is the selection. Starter dishes were mainly seafood and salads. The main roast is prime rib. Mmmm just cooked right and so tender. There are plenty of other dishes to chose from and big heated silver serving dishes of vegetables. You wouldn't believe the choice of desserts there are, too many to list! I stayed focus and listened to my head to instead of my eyes and finished the meal comfortably full but not stuffed. I must have chosen the right combinations of dishes as I never suffered a twinge of heartburn!
After the meal we went down to the casino lounge area. People were dinning here too so we found seats at the large bar area surrounding the lounge. Betty and Cathy went off to gamble. Betty is such a lucky gambler! Nancy and I stayed with our seats with a Bud apiece. At 9.30 the dining buffet cleared away and the cabaret started this is what we had been waiting for.
This was ' Nearly Neil and his Solitary Band' a Neil Diamond tribute band. The lead singer was a guy called Bobby Bruce. Not as good as the real thing obviously but good in his own right. The sound was right. It was a popular act at the venue as people streamed in to see it, they were standing all around the lounge area. The tiny dance floor was heaving with swaying dancers. One older guy kept us amused. He was so into the music and dancing away by himself. But ouch, absolutely no sense of rhythm. I think he jogged a marathon, well he looked as if he was jogging on the spot! He certainly looked as if he was enjoying the music and himself.

After an hour he took a break but he had two more slots performing that evening. We decided it was time to call it a night as Cathy had to drive home to Langly , quite a distance and Betty back to Vancouver after dropping us home.
The casino gambling area was heaving with gamblers as we walked through to the exit.
Your not allowed to take photos in the casino. Well not in the gambling area anyway. The photos outside were not good I don't think the camera liked the sudden change of temperature. It was bitter cold and foggy outside when we left the warmth of the casino.
