Welcome to a very wet Vancouver!

Well we arrived at a very wet Vancouver's Airport last night, only 20 minutes late, but in the lee of a storm. Nancy and Nancy Lee were there waiting for us. It was such a relief to get off that plane despite  travelling in their "World Traveller Plus' cabin.

There's one drawback having airport assistance. At Heathrow it was great. Well after getting through the beefed up security everyone has to get through. They even wanted me to take off my rings!!! I just told them no as they would come off. One of our carry on bags was searched. Note to self.... Do not add dirty underwear in carry on bag coming home! Don't worry there as no underwear dirty or clean in the carry on!
A very nice young girl wheeled me to a lounge area where we waited a short time for an electric buggy. This took us 4 levels under Heathrow then up to the departure gate. I'm sure the journey wasn't 2 miles but that's what it seemed like. Once at the departure gate we were loaded onto the plane first. At Vancouver anyone waiting Assistance has to wait for all the passengers disembark before loading passengers waiting for Assistance on more electric buggies and whisking through the Airport to passport control.
The flight was long and painful. My brain refused to switch off so I could sleep. My joints and muscles took turns to be painful. 20 minutes later we were back at Nancy's with a welcome cup of tea. followed later with a light evening meal and a surprise one day late Birthday cake.

A lush carrot cake covered with cream cheese icing.

Nancy and I about to attack the cake!
