Wednesday July 6th.
Another beautiful sunny day here in Vancouver. I have another lovely relaxing workout in the pool this morning. John collects us at midday and we drive over to Kerrrisdale Village in Vancouver.
The day is really warm with no wind so at the Cheshire Cheese Inn were we decided to have lunch, we opt to eat in the air conditioned inside of the pub instead outside on the broadwalk.
The food is plentiful, my salad, I thought would be a light meal, was humongous. 'Himself' opts for a British breakfast. So thoroughly stuffed once more we emerged in to the sunlight to wander along the shops.
Kerrisdale roads are very busy, with allot of heavy vehicles, John believes it's because one of the other main through roads is closed to traffic. This is an area where there are allot expensive properties and also where many retirees live. Behind the line of shops are plenty of highrise apartment blocks. All along the streets are wooden bench seating to stop and rest weary feet.
This giant Redwood tree has been left on site when the shops were built The contractors just built the shop line around the tree and made sure it was protected.
The shops are mostly high end shops, no cut price or cheap clothes shops here. No Global superstores either and just a very few National stores. There are many Boutiques and independently owned shops line the streets.
The area and the shops are a pleasure to wander around. There's a good range of different shops with something to interest everyone. An inviting number of coffee shops are are spread up and down the streets to offer refreshments to weary shoppers.
This attractive shop entrance is a flower shop.
Eventually we all meet up at a prearranged time in a cool Parisian Patisserie tea and coffee shop called Faubourg. Their range of teas are displayed in small glass dishes so you to choose the tea you fancy.
Tea for one. Earl Grey of course.
.......and their range of pastries and desserts are to die for.
..........and an eclair to take home for Pants........
While Nancy and I had a rest on one of the many benches along the street we did a little people watching. As on all streets their are some odd characters to be seen. Two old ladies amble along the road chatting together with their walking sticks in their hands. Wearing polyester easy pull on pants and a polyester tee shirts, easy to wash the food stains from! Sensible shoes with laces or velcro fastenings adorn their feet. I suddenly have a nasty thought. Cripes! We're almost catching up with them!!!
