This sun is getting us in training for the weather in Calgary as we have yet another brilliant sunny and warm day, hardly any breeze either. The tan is slowly deepening. I had a good swim this morning. A different guy came to the pool for a swim, so I used him to pace my swim. He didn't know! He was a bit younger and fitter than me as well but I out swam him. He didn't last long in the water.
Johns working today so no outing for us. So it's a lazy afternoon today. 'Himself gets togged up for a bike ride, with the camera this time. He really needs a long lens though, for the wildlife he sees. He actually more use to binoculars than a camera.
He cycles along the dyke and then along the edge of the Fraser River to where the Airport lies directly across the river.Sea Planes fly in and out of their base on the far edge of the river. Their base is near a great pub called The Flying Beaver.
In the above photo there is actually three coyotes, two are sizing up the river ready to swim across it. They really are there. You can see them when I crop into the photo and enlarge it.
There's lots of wildlife around this area, herons, water fowl and eagles.
The Coyote.
Description - A grizzled grey or reddish-grey coat with buff underparts, long, rusty or yellowish legs and a bushy tail characterize the coyote. They have arresting, yellow eyes and prominent ears. Average weight is 20-40 pounds.
Distribution - The coyote was originally native only to the prairies and arid west but as settlers moved across the country, altering the landscape and doing away with wolves, a new niche was opened up to the coyote. They now thrive in the Western Hemisphere from the Pacific to Atlantic Oceans.
