Saturday July 9th.
It's been a restful day Nobody has done much of anything. Even my swim this morning was half hearted and eventually cut short. The British Grand Prix qualifying rounds at Silverston was on TV so that took care of the rest of the morning. The afternoon was just right for napping!
Late afternoon John collects us and we drove into Vancouver to the West End. Ralph and Daniel have invited us for dinner tonight. The West End is fairly busy, there's a thriving Cafe culture here. Ralph's apartment is overlooking Robson Street but three blocks away from all the main tourist area. It's only a ten minute walk from Stanley Park.
Their apartment is on the fifth and top floor of a small block of apartments but most importantly for this area, it has spacious underground parking. Its stylish and compact with a tiny balcony. We start the evening with that is becoming a trend for us, with a refreshing glass of Pimms. Very English! and just the job! As usual Ralph has planned an impressive Italian meal starting with anti pasta and followed by an enormous pot of Osso Bucco and pasta.
The dessert was strictly West Coast though with a Key Lime pie. No prizes whose favorite dessert it was. John has a birthday while we are away in Calgary so Ralph and Daniels planned this treat for him as well as early presents.
Daniel took this photo on a trip to Alberta and John loved it. Looks really great enlarged and framed. John was over the moon.
These two old ducks, so stuffed with food just sat and looked on,
