Pancakes and more Stampede

Saturday July 16th

We're up early this morning and off into the City for a free Pancake breakfast. There's several outlets around doing this each morning while the Stampede is on. The transit is not so packed this morning and we trundle off into the City center. Were going to the Olympic Plaza. Here about six chuck wagon are frying bacon and American buttermilk pancakes. Most have long queues but we find the one with the shortest. It's a lovely morning and we are shaded by the trees.

  We sit on the steps leading down to the square and scoff two pancakes each and are stuffed. There's live music on the stage to accompany breakfast. Nancylee and John go and scout for coffee while we listen to the music.

  A cowboy and cowgirl appear and work their way around the crowd dancing and making  kids and adults happy.

We hop back on the Transit back to the Stampede ground. A different entrance this time. It's near to the Stampede market that we aim to separate and  wander around meeting up again for lunch.

We don't find the market place very interesting. much of it is about selling fancy gadget. I learned long ago the gadget for the kitchen and house usually finish up gathering dust in the back of a dark cupboard.

After a refreshing lemonade we move on to another Hall. This has been named 'Western Living' It's not so noisy or bright in this hall and much cooler. The stands are far more interesting to us.

In the competition area there were several cakes. They surprised me by being all sugarpaste and not America style in sight.

There are many artists here several actually painting a picture in their style. Plus many other craft on display. There's some fabulous photography, fabric embroidery, and quilting. There was live music right by a coffee stall just right to rest listen and sup coffee.
