Summer Market at Ricmond

Sunday evening July 24th.

What else do you do after a lazy sunny Sunday afternoon................. well you go to the Summer Night market of course. 

 So we did,  arriving at about 7pm it was bustling, warm and noisy. Most of the punters were young Asian Kids. Laughing giggling and generally having fun. Few were young families and very few were Oldies like us.

It was a beautiful evening though. The sun shone over the river and the Mountains across in North Vancouver  were a darker blue outline against clear blue sky. The cars kept piling in the massive car park. The Market parking staff were kept busy keeping them flowing towards vacated spaces. Every thing was well organized.

 The stalls were all well spaced out with wide aisles. So many of them. Mostly all were selling Asian imports. We were looking for iPad cases. After walking round twice and often being shown the wrong case but being assured they would fit we eventually choose the most suitable .

At least half of the market is devoted to food stalls there all in one area of the market. Every sort of Asian food you could think of is being cooked here. The area is packed. most of the kids just come here to eat and sample food.. We get a large (pint size) cup of fresh lemonade and a supersize steamed pork dumpling. Very tasty!

Over in a large space amount the stalls is a large low stage area. As we were making our way back to the prearranged meeting place the entertainment began. Classical Chinese opera! I have to say I like many genre of music but Chinese Opera sadly isn't one. Nancy agrees and so does at least one other lass at the market. She walked past with her fingers in her ears!

 After meeting back with John and Nancylee. We decide to drive back in to Richmond and go for a Gelato at Marios. John's suggestion. The sun is setting as we get there. It's a lovely orange and gold sunset as we arrive.

Marios was busy when we arrived but we managed easily to get a table for five and spent a few minuted deciding what flavour we fancied from the hugh number on display behind the glass counter. If you wanted you could sample the icecream before deciding which you fancied!. Ours come in fancy plastic cups with little spoons. Two Rum and Rasin, a Pistachio,a Mango and a Hazelnut mmmmmmmm........tasty.
