Wednesday day 13
Well the snows arrived once more on time as predicted. In some places it will be on top of ice. Not good. All main roads were clear and dry though before this fall, so this will settle. It's fine and dry snow and the air is very cold and dry. Last night the weather forcast said this cold snap could last and there could be snow at Christmas.
Yesterday saw an accident at Whistler that could have been a potential tragedy. One of the Blackcombe gondola towers snapping and collapsed. Apparently water had seeped into the tower and with the severe frost it expanded, ruptured and snapped No one was fatally injured but some in one of the gondola cars that dropped low enough to tip into a tree were battered and bruised. Others were stranded until they could be rescued. It's slightly put us off the Peak to Peak ride!
Yesterday I didn't have time to blog. We had quite a busy afternoon and evening. Nancylee had to record an interview at the CBC Studios in downtown Vancouver. We went with her to Downtown and wandered around the Pacific Center underground shopping Mall.

The Mall is bright and cheerful with piped Christmas music. H& M is a new arrival in this Mall. We just windowed shopped in the Mall but had a look around the Sears store as we stopped there for a light lunch.Later we went up to the foyer of the Four Seasons Hotel ( this is where the Queen always stays when she comes to Vancouver) where there is a display of decorated Christmas Trees. Well the TV said there were 27 but I'm sure there was more. They are decorated by different firms and organizations around Vancouver. This is the 22nd year of hosting this event. The public donate money and vote for the best decorated tree and other categorizes. The money is all donated to the Vancouver's Children's Hospital were Nancy use to work.

After an overdose of Christmas trees we went to the Yew wine bar at the hotel for a welcome cup of tea and cakes. It's server in podk Royal Doulton china. Very nice.
When Nancylee catches up with us at the hotel we head back for the car and drive over to Canadian tire and Best buy Its quite late by the time we were driving home so Nancylee orders food to collect from the Greek restaurant in Steveston.
