Urban Yarns is a small warm friendly and knowable store stuffed full of beautiful luxurious colourful yarns from all over the world. It has a central table with chairs to sit and knit around or discuss a project. and at the end of the store is a comfy sofa to relax on surrounded by samples of knitting swatches and garments. The ladies in the store are all young and very knowledgeable and helpful.
The walls are covered floor to ceiling with skeins and balls of yarns.
As the only shop in Peterborough that sells any quantity of yarn is the John Lewis department store and that's a very limited range. I get stuck in to adding to my limited stash for a range of projects I have in mind.
This is my choice of wools they're soft and warm and it's actually a hugh basketful !
Yarn shopping over refreshments are called for.
Outside it's getting dark we walk a few shops along to the T Room an exclusive cook and bakeware shop. The shop is so inviting and warm. From the mind boggling choice of teas we settle on a pot of cream earl grey and a couple of portions of the most scrumptious cakes to share. The selection of cakes are mouth watering and is such a difficult choice to make but as calorie conscious ladies we are, a decision has to be made! Sadly.
There's also more seating upstairs at the back of the shop were the seats are swishy sofas around coffee tables. By the shop door is a beautifully decorated Christmas tree.
Much later in the evening when Nancylee and John decide it's time to head for their home we decover it's..........
