So what did we do today?

Well more food of course. Well I don't like to disappoint those of you out there that believe this is an 'Eating around Vancouver 'blog. 

So Today we went to a Northern Dim Sum restaurant called Shanghai River. Apparently it's more up market than other Northern Chinese food. We were meeting up with Margaret and Mrs Chen, Nancy's sister and Mother. It had to be later than normal, so the table was booked for 1.30 pm. 'Shouldn't be too busy by that time.' said Nancy.

She was wrong. It was heaving and groups of people waiting for tables still. As usual for a Chinese restaurant here in Richmond, it full of Chinese people with only the occasional Caucasian face. Usually John, 'Himself' and me! Apparently, according to Nancy, the Chinese are not fond of cooking at home. The noisy chatter in the room is all Cantonese and Mandarin. No snippets of strange English conversation to overhear and giggle over!
The food is different to the usual Southern Dim Sum we go to. It's heartier and probably a little hotter.  I'm not sure what to say about the difference. Not enough of a connisoire probably. Anyway it was very good as usual with some different tasts.
