Thursday August 4th.
Back to Vancouver today, but not until the three o'clock ferry. Nancylee and John have gone shopping at a City book shop. 'Himself goes off to wander and shop. Nancy and I are a bit tired so we take in some culture with a self guided tour inside the Parliament Buildings. The building was
started in 1893. The architect, a young 25 year old by the name of Francis Rattenbury. I was intended to be built in honor of celebrating Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. He was also the architect for Empress Hotel. What people didn't know the young man had no architect experience at all.
Over a hundred years later the building still stand proudly on the Harbour frontage. The Legislator Assembly has adjourned for the summer and the building is busy with tourists and guided tours. We wander around by ourselves. The inside is simple but elegant The corridors are painted cream and have a simple plaster dogwoods flower picked out in silver around the ceilings. ( the flower of British Columbia).

Back to the Hotel for a noon check out. We have time for a light lunch/breakfast before leaving, so we check out the hotels dining room and eat.
We have one more stop before the ferry. The Beehive wool shop. It's located in a red brick Victorian Masonic building. A spacious yarn shop, stuffed with yarns from all over the world. John waits with Jaine in a favorite coffee shop and 'Himself' goes for a wander.
Three o'clock we board the ferry for the trip back to Tsawwassen. It's been a lovely sunny, busy two days break but nice to be home again.
