Whale watching tickets have sat on Nancy's shelves since Oct 2007. If you go on a trip out but the whales are a no show you're given a return ticket. This afternoon we used our 2007 no show tickets. The outfit is much the same as before. We sign in and board the boat with captain Bobby and a young Naturalist called Taz,
Pin pointing our homeland.
Novel boarding passes. Neoprene pads!
We're off at a bumpy fast pace.
A young bald eagle nests on the harbour light.
Papa eagle nearby. Takes up to 6 years to get their white patches.
'Himself' takes up his station on deck.
A turkey Vulture waits for something to scavenge.
another bald eagle.
and a Turkey Vulture
Sea sculptured rock and salt whitened tree roots.
Gulls and Ganets.
and harbour seals with young.
a little stowaway.
Himself gets arty with the camera!
Still in the Bosuns chair.
Back to Steveston's Docks. with not a snifter of a whale.
Oh well that's nature, the whales have forsaken the islands sheltered waters today and are too far out to sea today. They should come back. So now we have another ticket for another trip. With three weeks left here we may well get another trip in and who knows, maybe it will be third time lucky!
