On the Road to Manderlay!

Tuesday 30th Aug.
Well OK so that's not the true date, I know. We've been back in  the UK for a week now but lots of happenings have delayed the last two days of Canadian blogging.
On Tuesday I had my last sunny swim in at the lovely open air pool In Nancy's complex. It wasn't much of a swim as m  right knee was so painful, but I gave it some gentle exercise to help loosen the joint. In not sure it really helped. My right thigh looks as if the allergy rash I had four weeks ago is returning. Oh Joy! That's not helpful either. Back home it's Tylenol Arthritis for the joint with a band of Icy Hot across the knee, hydro-cortisone cream on the rash and a benydryl anti histamine tablet. I feel like a chemist shop. Stuffed full of medicines!
Nancylee came to pick us up and we did some last minute shopping in Lansdowne Mall. mainly it was a trip to the Apple repair shop to pick up the old Mac Book that died on us when we were trying to re register it. It's now got a new 300gig hard drive and Snow Leopard installed. The cost really surprised me it was so cheap compared to prices in the UK. At the luggage shop we picked up a new luggage tag and then was taken with a new piece of hand baggage for the flight. The sale price was so tempting that we decided to have it.
The rest of the day was taken up with trying to pack all the stuff we had bought. Nancylee fetched down an old Army Kitbag from the attic. Its really ancient but strong. We stuff it with rolled up clothes and top it off with heavy shoes until there was not an inch of space left in it.

In the evening we elected to go to a restaurant in Steveston called Mandalay. It's a Steak House  behind the Hog Shack overlooking the river. It's a nice night and the restaurant is busy. we have a 10 minute wait for a table on the upper floor. There's a deck outside that gives a good view of the river each way. Moored on a Jetty  below in front of us is the boat Crazy Legs It's just come back from the latest Whale Watching expedition. Once all the passengers have disembarked Captain Bobby starts to hose the boat down and secure it for the night.
waiting for more good food in Mandalay.

And so to the food Mandalay's version of Surf and Turf. Big tiger prawns and a mouth watering  inch thick fillet Mignon steak with a mushroom sauce and garlic mash, I won't boor you with more food pictures but the steaks were delicious. Tender and melting in the mouth.
Strawberry  Daiquiri  for me and a jug of red Sangria for Nancylee and Nancy. Beer for the Boys of course.
A beautiful sunset over the water lights up the sky with hints of red.
and a slice of mouthwatering new York Cheesecake to finish.
We girls left the boys to drink more beer in O'haras pub on the corner of River road and Steveston highway. We go to Nancylee home to go online to print Boarding Passes for tomorrows flight home. I've already booked seats and payed for an extra piece of luggage.
