so home we go

Thursday August 25th
We fly home this evening after our wonderful epic three month holiday, Nancylee arrive early. We're going to Point Roberts, the tiny piece of isolated peninsular of land that belongs to the United States. The local Canadians us it as a postal address for goods ordered from the States that can't be delivered to Canadian addresses.
John has to go with his Dad, Ralph, to the Doc's for the results of his last CT Scan. They've also been trying to get organized for their four month sojourn in Paris. They fly on Aug 31st so that can't have been easy to get organized especially as their Landlords want to do some renovations to their home while they are away. Jaine their elderly deaf/blind dog is going with them so a pet cage to satisfy Jaine's comfort and the airline regulation has to be found as well. Armed with our Passports and Visa waive forms we set off. The journey is only a short one and this boarder crossing is quick and once there in the tiny sea bound peninsula there is nowhere else to go!
Flying the Stars and Strips in Point Roberts.
Fire wood anyone?
The Pebble and log strewn beach at Point Roberts.
They've been Beach Combing as usual!
After Nancy has picked up a package from the postal pick up point we drive around to the coast. The beach here is all pebbles and ancient drift wood logs that have drifted down the Fraser river and along the coast. 'Himself' and Nancylee spend a little time beach combing before its time to head back to Canada.
Nancy's Mum  has to be looked after this lunch time so she is collected by us and we all head off to Richmond to Kirin's for Dim Sum. Our last meal out here for the foreseeable future. We didn't think the restaurant would be busy on a Thursday lunch time at 1.30pm but it was.  After a short wait we were seated and the food started to arrive. No Pictures today Sorry! But it's is really good Dim Sum here.
After lunch 'Himself' and I go with John to the pet shop. John needs to exchange the Dog cage for Jaine to a more suitable size. We look for a Scratching post and seat for Nancy's cats Sam and Toby. Their old one was consigned to the garbage some time ago. We thought they would like a new one!
Sam and Toby's new scratch pole and bed.
We set about the remainder of the packing. We struggle through it, my knee hurting like hell and making my temper rather fraught.  The seats on the plane were booked last week and boarding passes last night so now we're all set.
At six twenty we set off for the airport. The luggard is sent off into the depths of the ariport BA bound and we take out tearful leave of Nancy, Nancylee and John. and head for the dreaded Airport security.
We've had a wonderful adventure this year. A cruise to Alaska, watching the mighty Hubbard Glazier.  Calgary, through the Rockies. The Stampede and all it's sideshows. Back through the Rockies and the Okanagan via Franks Slide and Smashed Head Buffalo Jump. Two whale Watching trips with spectacular sightings of Oracs' Over to Vancouver Island and to Victoria for two nights. A trip out on Steve Galloway's Yacht and so much more. There's no way we can thank our hosts in Canada, enough,  Nancy, Nancylee and John. It's been a wonderful trip Thank you so much.
